Anna & Luke have been all over my social media feed this year. They are a super adorable teacher couple from Hillsborough, North Carolina. Luke also went to UNC-Wilmington like me, is super outdoorsy, surfs, is an artist, so we’ve been able to connect through that. Anna is super sweet and so is her entire family! I’ve been eagerly waiting to shoot their wedding ever since their engagement session at Ayr Mount in Hillsborough. Their Windy Hill Farm wedding was on what felt like the first true fall day of the year. The air was cool and the sky was dark and eery, but we still had a great time and their photos turned out beautifully with the flat light from the clouds.
Windy Hill Farm in general was a fantastic venue and the owners were super kind. I believe they make all sorts of products at their farm on top of doing weddings like berries, soaps, beef, and eggs.
Anna & Luke held an outdoor ceremony at the back of the farm amongst the livestock. It was a beautiful service that featured some guitar playing by Anna’s brother and a song or two for the crowd to sing together. Their reception featured their first dance right outside of the seating area out in the open, which was my call as I don’t really see it too often and I wanted the natural light. Their family toasts were probably the highlight of the night for me. Anna’s dad brought messages that her students wrote to them and they were hilarious, genuine, and funny like all things kids say.
Anyway, enjoy their photos! I’ll be looking back at this one for a while!
